I happened to be out in Reno when Kelsey and Edric moved into their new house and I was the one that showed up with the camera. I thought I should post a few pictures of the happy family.

Boys Trip to Las Vegas

We went to the Mountain West Conference basketball tournament in Las Vegas in March and had a great time. Papa, Trent, Orlando, Edric and Duncan all made the trip. This event is sometimes called the UNLV Invitational since it is played at the Thomas and Mack Center, the home court of UNLV. In the five years that it has been held there UNLV has made the finals every year and defeated BYU the past two years.

Duncan and Edric were ready to rock and roll at the game.

Duncan was the big hit at the games meeting a lot of key people. Here he is with Tom Holmoe, the AD of BYU and former San Francisco 49er. Tom has a couple of Super Bowl rings.

Here is Duncan with Robbie Bosco. Robbie was the quarterback on BYU's National Championship team in 1984.

Duncan then decided to discuss some heavier policy with President Cecil Samuelson, the President of BYU and a General Authority in the Church.

After the BYU Cougars were victorious a couple of the players stopped by to discuss strategy with Duncan. He was only interested in talking to the big buys since he projects to be one of them. Both Chris Miles (6'10"") and Chris Collinsworth (6'9") came by to seek Duncan's blessing.

The Steelers played Arizona this year and we decided that would make a great time for our annual Steeler game. Joe was really on the ball and rounded up some really great tickets. It is a great time to get together with our brothers. The group keeps expanding each year. Jess flew down from Provo, Trent flew in from Portland and Richard drove up from San Diego.

A Trip to the Nation's Capital

Today we went down to Washington DC to see some of the memorials and sites. One of the first places we stopped was the Vietnam Memorial. I explained to the boys how this memorial was controversial when first announced but has since become famous for its simplicity and dignity. We looked up the names of two high school classmates of mine whose names are on the Wall.

We visited the Korean War Memorial. It was constructed after the Vietnam Memorial and it shows a squad on patrol. The different soldiers are depicted with various equipment and you can sense a feeling of communication between them as they move forward.

Freedom is not Free and we spoke about the sacrifice that many have given to ensure that we remain a free nation and society.

The images of Korean War veterans are lasered onto the wall near the memorial.

The boys got to see the Washington Monument. We talked about how long it took to build the Monument and how it was stopped for many years.

The World War II Memorial was closed today due to the fireworks from July 4.

Papa Takes the Dynamic Duo to the Air and Space Museum

We decided to go to the Air and Space Museum near Dulles today. I have never been there before and I thought it would of interest to the boys. It surprises me how much they know about this stuff.

This is up in the observation tower. From here you can watch the planes land and take off at Dulles Airport. Pretty neat view.

We had to go into the IMAX theater and there we saw a pretty good film about the effects of Katrina on the wetlands of Louisiana.

Granny Camp is Officially Underway

Granny camp officially started this week. First order of business was to buy a Playstation 3 and that was a big hit. I got up early on Friday and there was Ben, already out of bed and playing a game. This was after we had to tell Duncan and Ben to go to bed the night before.

As you can see they are trying to figure out how to play Risk.

On Saturday Granny took them to Hershey Park and dinner afterwards at Fuddruckers. It appears that a good time was had by everyone.

Today I received two ties for Father's Day from Colleen and Orlando. Naturally we have to decide which tie is the better one. Colleen went with the light blue with squares that are only visible from up close. Orlando decided that the striped tie would be a better one for me. (I like stripes)

The Golf Tournament is Over and We Came Close

The photo below was the follow through of Mac just after he stuck an iron shot to about four feet, over water and shortly after the birdie was conceded and we were well under way to a 7-3 victory.

We were not able to find victory but the second place finish was nice. In our final match we came down to the last hole tied and all we had to do was halve the hole (get the same score as our opponents) and we would be the flight champions and move into the elimation round of all flight champions. On the second shot disaster struck and our ball ended up in the water.

Here is a photo of us getting our awards, the crystal balls. As you can see the person we selected to take the photo was not very good with a camera.

There was still more excitement for team Haddow. On Thursday they held a putting contest and wouldn't you know it, the Haddow boys were the winner. This qualified us to each take a putt from about 70 feet on Saturday night. Should one of us sink the putt we would win $5000 in hard cold cash. (Probably a check and a 1099 to boot) Here is Mac discussing the rules with the official. You will notice that it is dark. They set up lights around the putting green, everyone came out on the balcony to watch and the putting began. As soon as we got ready, the sprinkers came on around the green and knocked out two of the lights. Undaunted, Mac went forward and had the crowd buzzing as his ball was tracking right into the hole. He came up short, the story of his life, and It was left up to his brother to save the day.

John putted second and had the ball on track towards the hole but alas, it went a bit long. There would be no $5000 prize for the Haddow boys that night.

We were unable to secure victory but we had a great time. Anytime you are able to spend three wonderful days with your brother it is great. Thanks Mac for inviting me and thanks for being my brother.

Uncle Mac and Papa Go Golfing

Uncle Mac and Papa are playing in the Member Guest at International Country Club and the final round is today. This is Uncle Mac getting ready to play.

As you can see, we did pretty good on the first day and took the lead in our flight. We struggled (actually to be honest, Papa struggled and Uncle Mac played great) on the second day and enter the final day clinging to a 1/2 point lead. Here is hoping that Papa can finally start playing well so we can hold on to victory and make the play off.

Eleanor Gets Baptized

Granny and Papa went down to Houston for the baptism of Eleanor. She has reached the age of 8 and it would amaze everyone just how much she knows about the Gospel. Her parents gave her a set of scriptures for a baptism present and she looked at them and said, "Now I have a reason to stay up late, I will be reading my scriptures.

The following are pictures of the Steeler game that we went to last week. This was the first game for Colleen and Ashley and the Steelers responded with a 45-7 thumping of Kansas City.

Family History Tour

This is a side view of the Montgomery Mansion in Claysville, PA where Grandma Green grew up. The house fell into some level of disrepair and was purchase by a couple that restored it and modernized it inside. The house is now for sale for $375K.

This is the back of the house. One piece of interesting information. The building you see on the other side is the Catholic church. Years ago the priest used to get his water for communion from the Montgomery well. He would then bless the water. After a while he just blessed the whole well to get it done faster.

As I was taking pictures I noticed these two beautiful Steeler fans all decked out and ready to go to the game.

We went to the cemetary in Claysville and this is the grave marker of my father. The one below is the marker for my brother who died as a baby.

This is 811 Valley View Terrace in Cannonsburg, PA. I lived here for a short time when I was in first grade and second grade. One thing I remember about this place was on an Easter Sunday we were outside for a few minutes and when we can back in we found the Easter Bunny had just visited our humble home. He had to be close so I sprinted down the row of houses looking to find him, but alas, he was already gone. We moved to McKees Rocks Terrace for my third grade year but we came back to Valley View Terrace at 316. That photo is below.

I thought we ought to include a picture of where Granny grew up. This is 235 Charles Street in the Knoxville area of Pittsburgh. The neighborhood has greatly changed, as well as the house. The front of the house used to have columns in the front of the porch. If you look at the top of the house you can see a window. This is where Granny's room was located.

Max and Mikayla's Rooms

This is the "Princess Room" and the one we have reserved for Mikayla on her visit. It has lots of windows so that she can watch over her kingdom. Of course this room is also the domain of Queen Maddie, Princess Ellie and Lady Christina.

This is the "King's Room" and Max can stay n this room. Duncan can also use this room when he is here. This room has a TV which every King needs. Ben and Sammy will also have access to this room on their visits.
